This month we are also reading Milkyways by Camille Henrot: a collection of essays that explores the ambivalence of motherhood and the process of creation, both in the realm of art-making and in life. Henrot delves into a rich cosmos of references spanning literature, cartoons, art history, psychoanalysis, and more. She navigates through diverse themes, from ancient maternity myths to modern maternity wards, engaging with the works of Marcel Proust, Maggie Nelson, Hélène Cixous, among others. The essays serve as a meditation on the complexities and contradictions inherent in motherhood and the creative process, offering a unique perspective that blends personal, historical, and cultural insights
After a short round of intros, we’ll talk about our ongoing projects,
creative goals and see where we can support each other, before sharing insights on our monthly pick.
